The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning that will be in effect for our area from July 2 at 11am until July 6 at 8pm.  Courtney Carpenter, NWS Warning Coordination Meteorologist, has recorded a short video briefing for critical fire weather conditions followed by extended heat event this week: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uruDD6EST5o

Excessive Heat Warning in effect from July 2, 11:00 AM PDT until July 6, 08:00 PM PDT

* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures of 105 to 115. Limited overnight relief with low temperatures in the upper 60s to around 80. The result will be widespread Major to Extreme HeatRisk.
* WHERE…Sacramento Valley, northern San Joaquin Valley and surrounding foothills.
* WHEN…From Tuesday morning through Friday evening.
* IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Heat could significantly impact outdoor holiday activities. Hottest temperatures are expected beginning Wednesday and continuing into next weekend. Area waterways will continue to run cold and fast, creating dangerous conditions for those seeking relief in rivers and lakes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
* Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
* Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
